Tao reaches the status of a legend at Edinburgh Fringe Festival
The summer of 2004 was indeed an unforgettable time for Tao. First, the group made a strong appearance at the Tokyo International Forum ? their first truly major performance in Japan . Next, they headed to England to play for a whole month at Assemby, the top venue at the world's largest arts event, Edinburgh Fringe Festival. To make use of both of these once-in-a-lifetime chances that meant the realization of Tao's long-held dream, the group split into two squads that both delivered superb and highly successful performances.
At Edinburgh , the previously unknown Tao caused nothing short of a major sensation. Selling 12,000 tickets over a show period of one month, Tao was number one among the festival's first-timers in terms of audience figures. With most of its shows completely sold out, Tao attracted a rare string of standing ovations from a festival audience that is said to possess a highly discriminating taste.
Thanks to these major successes in 2004, Tao strengthened its international reputation as a professional entertainment group capable of attracting audiences for multiple shows in succession, on par with world-class musicals. Tao's achievements in 2004 will act as an essential stepping-stone for a further breakthrough in 2005. |
